Site visit: METRANS Budapest-Csepel Terminal (BUCS)

On 1 December from 09:00-13:00, a site visit to METRANS Budapest-Csepel Terminal (BUCS) is scheduled. During the visit, our attendees learn more about the operations of this terminal.

The terminal is situated on Csepel island, created by the river Danube at the heart of the Hungarian capital. It is an important hub on the New Silk Road. With stable connections to and from Poland, it serves markets in the Balkan region, such as Romania and Serbia. At the same time, Budapest serves as a hub in the direction of the Adriatic Sea and North Sea ports.

  • Operated by METRANS since 2017
  • A total area of 143,500 sqm
  • 6 sidings of 650 m and 2 sidings of 500 m
  • Storage capacity of 12,500 TEU full and 7,500 TEU empty

Due to the success of the terminal, it is operating at full capacity at the moment. This success is explained by METRANS by the fact that Budapest is a generally strong location for a hub terminal. On the New Silk Road, it is well found by the Chinese logistics sector. In Europe, there are many stable connections to relevant destinations.
